FAQ’S

What exactly is a boudoir photo shoot?

A: Boudoir pictures, also known as intimate photos, are a very popular gift for your fiance or spouse. The word “boudoir” can be translated to mean “a woman’s private dressing room, sitting room or bedroom.” These photos are sexy photos of you, usually taken by a professional photographer. They can be taken in your own home, a hotel room or in a studio.

You can dress in anything you feel comfortable in, anything that your fiance or spouse would like to see you in. Suggestions include: a favorite shirt of your fiance, various items of lingerie and swimwear. Boudoir photos are not necessarily nude photos, and you can be as covered up or uncovered as you feel comfortable with. It’s really up to the individual.

The women in your boudoir & glamour galleries are beautiful. Are they professional models?

The women featured in Denver based Colorado Boudoir’s galleries are a mix of models and everyday women. Colorado Boudoir repects the privacy of it’s clients, and so often the women shown on the website are professional models since they are used to signing model releases and having their photos shown. Many of our clients prefer we not show their photos, and so we choose not to. We have over 15 years experience photographing models of all ages, shapes and sizes. A boudoir session shot with Colorado Boudoir can help bring out a woman’s confidence. We do our best to make every woman feel special, and bring out their unique personality through the photos we create.

I don’t have the body of a supermodel. Can I still get nice pictures?

A: Yes. Without a doubt, we will create beautiful photos of you. Everyone has flaws, and we have years of experience in covering these flaws and playing to your strengths. Of course, we can retouch anything you want us to. As much or as little as you want changed, we can do for you. Of course, it is easier to choose clothing that is flattering to you than to retouch photos, and so we will discuss wardrobe selection with you prior to the shoot. Try to find items that accentuate your great features and minimize anything you don’t want seen.

Do you shoot women of all ages?

A: Colorado Boudoir specializes in making every woman look beautiful and sexy regardless of her age or dress size. Our most common boudoir clients are between 25 & 55 years old, however, we’ve shot women as young as 20 and as old as 68.

Do you shoot Bridal Boudoir and Maternity Boudoir photos?

A: Absolutely. We shoot lots of bridal boudoir photos, and are always so happy to provide a special gift that a fiance can give to their spouse on their wedding day. Bridal Boudoir photos are becoming very “in fashion” right now and the trend is expected to continue, as it provides a unique gift idea that is popular with grooms everywhwre! Also, we shoot a lot of maternity boudoir sessions. Similar to what you would see with other maternity photos, but with a sexy edge to them, maternity boudoir photos allow a special moment in your life to be caputed forever. Pregancy is a time when women glow, and capturing it can be a fun and exciting way to remember it.

Who will be there during my photo shoot?

A: There will only ever be the photographer, an assistant if necessary for your shoot and the hair & make-up artist (if you package includes hair & make-up) in the studio while you have your session.

Can I bring someone with me to the session?

A: Yes, however, we prefer it only if your friend is having her photos taken as well. We find that having other people with you during a shoot can be distracting, and make you feel self conscious. Often when a friend is there you focus more on them than the shoot, and it makes it more difficult to get flattering photos. Of course, this is only our advice, and if you really want to have a friend there during the shoot, it is your choice.

I have a photo that I cut out of a magazine and was wondering if you could shoot something similar of me?

A: Yes. We encourage you to bring magazine or fashion publications with various looks you may want your photos to look like for your own shoot. We will take your ideas and hopefully add our own touch to them. You can also find numerous looks online by searching different magazines like Playboy, Maxim, FHM, GQ and others. As well, you can look at the styles of of other boudoir and glamour photographers by searching those terms in Google.

How much do I have to show? / Can I have erotic photography if I wish?

A: You can show as little or as much as you wish. Denver’s Colorado Boudoir has photographed clients on the boudoir sets in everything from wedding gowns and dresses, to jeans, to nothing but their birthday suit. Colorado Boudoir is fully aware that clients require different outcomes and styles to their images for different purposes, and we are happy to shoot whatever you feel comfortable with. If you require a more risqué and erotic style to your images, that is not an issue at all.

Can you retouch my images? Is the retouching included in your packages?

A: Colorado Boudoir retouches any images you would like us to. The number of photos we retouch depends on what package you choose. If you would like additional images retouched, we offer that as well in our optional pricing shown on our priceing packages page.

Colorado Boudoir retouches images to each client’s requirement. Some people want their images retouched heavily to look like a photo from a magazine, and others prefer a more natural look with very little retouching. We can do as much or little as a client requests.

Where are the Colorado Boudoir photo shoots done?

A: We prefer to use luxury hotel suites, bed and breakfasts, and large homes with fashionable decor suitable for such boudoir style shoots. We can recommend the best hotels to shoot in for the styles of photos you like. Shooting in the comfort of your room allows you to begin and end your day stress-free and not have to deal with dragging your wardrobe to and from the shoot. When the shoot is finished we pack up and leave you, all made up and ready to go out and party, or just to spend a nice evening with your partner.

We have worked with many clients who prefer to shoot in the studio or secluded outdoor locations that show the scenery Colorado is known for. We will accommodate private shoots at these locations as well. If you need help selecting a location, we have many available through our location scouts as well, and are happy to set that up for you. We do charge extra for location shoots that are out of town as we need an assistant for the equipment, additional setup time, travel fees, parking and gratuities. Depending on the location, this may be an additional $25 – $150 extra. We shoot all over the state of Colorado, including Denver, Aurora, Littleton, Lakewood, Colorado Springs, Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Boulder, Westminster, Arvada, Telluride, and even out of the state, or even out of the country.

Can we shoot in my own home?

A: Yes. We often shoot in client’s homes, boutique hotels, bed and breakfasts, scenic outdoor locations and rented mansions. Of course, we are more than happy to shoot in the studio, however, background choices will be more limited. Mileage fees may apply, depending on where you are located. We shoot across the entire state of Colorado, from Colorado Spring to Fort Collins, to Telluride, Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge, and everywhere in between. As well, we do offer international shoots several times per year. Just sign up for our email updates for updated lists of our special offers.

Are hair and makeup included with the photo session?

A: Some packages include professional hair and makeup. If your package does not include it, professional hair and makeup artist can be made available to you for your session, at your request, as an optional add-on to your package.

Can I do my own makeup?

A: If you do not want to use our makeup/hair stylist, you can take advantage of a $50 makeup application at any MAC store (call your closest MAC store to set up your appointment). Always specify to the makeup artist that this is for a photo shoot. There is an art to applying makeup for photos and they are trained for that.

Do you supply wardrobe and props for the shoots?

A: Generally, because of the nature of lingerie and other clothing items, the model supplies her own wardrobe and any special props she may want. This allows the client to get exactly what they want, and in the right sizes. As well, it will fit with the concept of their photo shoot exactly as they would like it to be. We can make great photos in astudio type location with a wide variety of photo backgrounds and even better ones in a luxurious bedroom setting found in nice hotels or homes. In spring, summer and fall we have some great outdoor settings available. So, to make sure the client gets the look and styles wanted it is best for them to bring their own clothing items that they want to be photographed in.

Our clients come in all shapes and sizes and all have their own concept on the photos they want to do. It would be impossible for us to maintain wardrobe for every possible style and size that might be wanted. If you want some kind of special props we can probably have our stylist find it for you, however stylist fees can be very expensive. But at Colorado Boudoir, your wish is our command, so please let us know if there is anything we can do, and we are happy to go the extra mile to make your experiece and shoot exactly what you have imagined it to be.

If you want elaborate stylish locations they can be rented specifically for your shoot. As well, we can recommend the best hotel suites to do photos in depending upon your budget and the style of photos you want to shoot.
